Operating across Wales and the south of England, Dale offers a 24/7/365 service specialising in reactive facilities maintenance, minor works and refurbishments, and insurance restoration services.
Jonathan Davies, Managing Director at Dale Building Maintenance commented;
“We had trackers before but we were attracted by the flexibility of the BigChange solution, its ease of use and the additional functionality on offer. With BigChange we have the real-time data we need to intelligently allocate and manage our field resources.
“Using BigChange I know I am sending the right person, to the right job, in the right place,” he continued. “What’s more I know that I am doing this in the most time and cost effective, and environmentally friendly way. BigChange also offers a range of fleet maintenance and reporting tools that other systems don’t.”
BigChange vehicle tracking, part of the 6-in-1 cloud based job management software that also includes a mobile workforce app, customer relationship management (CRM), job scheduling, financial management, and business intelligence tools in one system, provides Dale with up-to-the-minute, live visibility of its entire fleet.
Staff in the Dale control rooms can view vehicles and jobs on a map and allocate the closest engineer using BigChange’s 'find the nearest’ feature. Matching the nearest, most appropriate trade to a job and reducing unnecessary mileage has increased the number of jobs per engineer per day and reduced Dale’s annual mileage.
Davies continued;
"By spending less time travelling to a job and more time doing the work we have managed to increase the number of jobs each engineer can complete a day by 1 or 2. This equates to an efficiency gain approaching 20 percent.
“With annual mileage that is equivalent to the moon and back, twice, BigChange has also delivered a saving of around 10 percent. This not only reduces our fuel bill, it reduces our emissions, and it reduces vehicle wear and tear, which all feedback to efficiency gains.”
In addition to the real-time tracking of vehicles, BigChange is also improving other aspects of fleet management and utilisation for Dale. Geofence alerts can be used to provide automated notifications if a vehicle arrives or leaves a specific location or territory such as congestion or low emission zones or even an engineer’s home address. Alerts can also be used for monitoring driver behaviour with flags for harsh braking, idling and speeding for example, or out-of-hours use of a vehicle.
The historical reporting features within BigChange are also supporting Dale operationally as the system can be used to provide backup in case of other system failures. Reports such as time on site, mileage travelled and speeding events can all be automatically produced per job, driver, or region. This information can also be shared with third parties including customers, partners and external standard organisations.
