Since implementing the 6-in-1 BigChange solution 5 years ago, which sees engineers in the field live linked to back-office teams, All Round Security has grown its workforce by more than 50 percent. The business has seen a five-fold increase in the number of jobs it completes in a year and has boosted its annual turnover from £7 million to £20 million.
All Round Security originally implemented BigChange to replace a number of disparate systems. The Managing Director at the time was quoted as saying ‘Our challenge is to manage growth whilst maintaining our high quality of service’, and expansion was cited as one of the primary drivers for the business, and its adoption of BigChange.
Mike Smith, Operations Director at All Round Security, commented;
Since 2020 we have experienced a 50-60 percent growth in the business. This would not have been possible without BigChange. In fact, without BigChange I am not sure we would even still have a business.
Using BigChange we have built an enviable reputation for quality of service, reliability of performance, and efficiency in response times, all of these are underpinned by digital workflows and processes. BigChange has a bearing on every aspect of our operation, from staff engagement to audit compliance, and from health and safety assessments to tender submissions, and, if it has just a 5 percent impact on each of these, that is a massive overall boost.
Using the BigChange solution, now part of the Simpro Group offering, All Round Security has, and continues to, achieve year-on-year expansion. In December 2023, All Round Security acquired Dormakaba’s northern Entrance Systems Automatic Service department, bringing the growth in the business to a peak with an additional 60 staff members, 2 new offices, and 2,000 plus contracts.
Mike continued;
The acquisition of the new business was a significant challenge, as we had to onboard new customers, staff, and working practices. However, because we had already made substantial investments in BigChange over the last five years; financially, mentally and even physically, we were able to rise to the challenge. We were able to import new customer details in a matter of minutes, get staff up to speed in a few hours and we are continuing to benefit from the flexibility our new locations offer.

All Round Security has embedded BigChange workflows and processes throughout its rapidly expanding service operation which includes in-house design and manufacturing, planned, preventative maintenance (ppm) contracts, and 24/7 reactive call outs for Automatic Doors, Shutters, Entry Systems and Barriers. From its headquarters in Haydock, and its new regional offices in Falkirk and Washington, All Round Security now completes around 100,000 jobs a year and is predicting a further growth to £35 million in the next five years.
All Round Security uses the cloud-based BigChange system across its thriving business. Configurable and adaptable digital worksheets guide the mobile workforce through complex tasks allowing them to capture, record and share details, including time, date and location stamped photographs and signatures, of work completed, parts used and issues outstanding. Time sheets, that used to take an hour to validate 10 engineers’ submissions, are processed in a matter of minutes, and assessments for industry compliance schemes and government legislation are completed to the highest standard with evidence logged for future inspections and audits.
BigChange is also supporting All Round Security’s future growth plan with the company able to evidence its performance in job reporting, KPI achievements, and future innovation with the use of the system. “BigChange is one of the most impactful things in my working life,” Smith concluded. “I check it first thing in the morning to get eyes-on anything that may, or may not, have happened overnight. I use it to engage with the workforce ensuring they have the tools they need to do the job, including being paid accurately and on-time, and I use to demonstrate our skills and performance to prospective clients.

Even after 5 years, BigChange continues to amaze and surprise me, and I am confident that if we continue to work together as we have done it will be the foundation for our next 5 years’ of growth.
